Do you know what we eat determines who we become?
We impact the environment in what we eat.
So when we consume excessive animal-based products, we created major water pollution and deforestation.
And we become one of the biggest culprits in global warming.
So how are we going to reduce damage to our environment?
Our desire is to reach out to more Malaysians and inspire them to consume a plant-based diet…
And it is OK to start with once a week….
To achieve its vision, Loving Hut provides:
1. Healthy vegan cuisines from around the world, like Chinese Stew Noodle Soup, Italian Spaghetti, Sandy Beach Bars Rice, Healthy Soy Sauce Noodles and Aulacese Spring Rolls.
2. Affordable prices
3. Fresh and wholesome ingredients that are low in calories and free of MSG. Instead as flavor substitutes, we use premium ingredients such as olive oil, sea salt, herbal spices.
4. Elegant dining ambience with wireless internet access.
5. Cheerful and attentive crew who are passionate about going green. At Loving Hut, all waste is recycled or composted whenever possible and packaging is made of recycled or post-consumer environment-friendly materials.

We hope to touch the hearts of Malaysians and make a difference to Mother Earth.
Loving Hut in Malaysia opened its first store on 12 December 2008 at Bandar Puteri Puchong, Selangor.
Ok, well i'm not very supportive about going Veggies as most of you know! Really I don't want to grow bunny ears! But I just really liked what I was seeing. The dishes looks promising and tasty, seems clean but looks a bit expensive. But really sounds interesting!
I wouldn't mind eating vegetarian at least once a week, but since i'm a meat eater (rawr!) I do eat my VEGGIES too!! I always 'have' to have my veggies around my meaty food. Well just maybe around.... 50%.... Not bad huh?
But wait! They serve meaty stuff too =D Woooho! Just how they serve the meat and stuff is more environmental. So the meat should be much tastier and can see the difference in the raw meat itself.
I'm looking forward to eat one of those!!!
My next topic will be: How to detect good/bad meat/vegetable while shopping
BEIJING – A pregnant woman in south China was detained, beaten and forced to have an abortion just a month before her due date because the baby would have violated the country's one-child limit, her husband said Thursday.
Construction worker Luo Yanquan said his wife was taken kicking and screaming from their home by more than a dozen people on Oct. 10 and detained in a clinic for three days byfamilyplanningofficials, then taken to a hospital and injected with a drug that killed her baby.
Family planning officials told the couple they weren't allowed to have the child because they already have a 9-year-old daughter, Luo said.
For the last 30 years, China has limited most urban couples to just one child in a bid to curb population growth and conserve its limited resources. China has the world's largest population, with more than 1.3 billion people. Couples that flout the rules face hefty fines, seizure of their property and loss of their jobs.
The case is an extreme example of the coercive measures Chinese officials sometimes use to comply with the strict family planning regulations. Though illegal, police and judicial authorities often look the other way when forced abortion cases are reported and the heavily censored state media shy away from such news.
But in recent years, victims have begun to speak out about their ordeals with the help of the Internet and text messaging. Aiding them are social campaigners and lawyers who have documented cases of forced late-term abortions. Similar abuses have been reported in Hebei and Shandong provinces and in the Guangxi region.
An official with the Siming district family planning commission, which oversees Luo's neighborhood, confirmed there was a record of Luo's wife, Xiao Aiying, undergoing an abortion recently but said the procedure was voluntary and that she was about six months instead of eight months pregnant at the time. Like many Chinese bureaucrats, he refused to give his name.
China bans forced abortions, but doesn't prohibit or clearly define late-term abortion.
The Siming official said Xiao's husband had approved the abortion, a claim Luo denied.
"I never signed anything. No one in our family did," he said by telephone from Xiamen. "I called the police but they said family planning issues weren't their responsibility. I want to sue, but lawyers I've asked here say they can't help me and the media won't report on our case."
Luo set up a blog last week to let people know what had happened to his wife, and satellite broadcaster Al-Jazeera posted a report about thecouple'scaseon its website Wednesday.
Photos on the blog show a pained-looking, and clearly pregnant, Xiao sitting on a hospital bed after the injection but before the baby was stillborn 40 hours later. Other images show a large purple bruise on her arm and scratches on her leg, which Luo said were caused when family planning officials hit and kicked her as she struggled to get away.
Ordinary Chinese reacted with anger and disgust to Luo's online account, posting comments that called the family planning officials cruel and inhuman.
Xiao delivered the dead baby on Oct. 14 but remains hospitalized and may require emergency surgery to remove pieces of placenta still in her uterus, Luo said. The couple, both 36, were not informed of the sex of the aborted baby, Luo said.
A man who answered the phone at the obstetrics ward of the Siming No. 1 Hospital confirmed that Xiao was still a patient there. He refused to provide more details or give his name.
Telephone calls to the press office of the National Population and Family Planning Commission in Beijing rang unanswered Thursday.
She was one of a Cruelty case. She had 8 Puppies as the neighbor said. But the owner has not been taking care of this mother. She was underweight and couldn't feed her puppies properly due to lack of nourishment. It became serious, that eventually the SPCA inspectorates along with DVS has confiscated the dog from the owner. On the way to the shelter, she has lost 3 of her puppies. When in the kennel only 5 puppies where still around. When i discovered her and the 5 puppies in the kennel, I visited her almost everyday. The next day, I saw one puppy was missing. I was told one puppy has died...
One of her puppies. The most active puppy in the litter (1month old)
I was very upset about it. Seeing the condition of the puppies, they were in a bad shape and won't survive in the shelter. I asked my mom if we can adopt her along with the puppies. My mom wasn't sure if we could support 4 puppies and its a high risk. But she made sure I could understand that puppies is just like little children. They need enormous of attention. I understood but German shepherd are one of the most expensive breed, how can ANYONE neglect such breed....??? *sigh*
Almost everyday i went to visit her playing with her puppies and getting them active. They where all so sweet. Theres always one puppy that is shy and wouldn't come out from under the bench. As the days passed by, I was already making plans to adopt her and take in her puppies and get them back to health to get them adopted. I talked with my mom how much money this will cost since it will be my responsibility which i'm VERY much willing to take.
As I arrived to her kennel, my heart sank... with tears building up. She was alone...
I grabbed the fence so tightly trying not to scream and cry. She was there... alone. She was in the corner, looking down. Didn't even move knowing that I was there. Tears just started falling down my face none-stop. I knew too much what has happened. And she knew it also. I quickly went into the kennel and hugged her tight. She just let her body lay on me. I stayed there for at least 2 hrs talking to her. One of the caretakers saw me and said the Shelter is closing. She was so numb she couldn't move. I had to move her whole body on the wood bench to get comfortable. She didn't even made the effort to get up. I was so desperate to get her out of here.
I asked one of the vet what has happened to the puppies. They were all been put down because they had ParvoVirus
I went back home and told the bad news to my mom. My mom was sad and was willing to adopt the German shepherd. She wasn't adoptable until she was neutered. But I kept visiting her after work. But I could tell she was depressed. So depressed she had her head down completely and wouldn't look up. I tried by doing some therapy. Caressing her from underneath to get her head up, but she would move her head away from my hand. I can tell its hard for her, but at least she has made an effort to wag her tail as soon as she sees me. It made me happy that she hasn't lost hope completely.
After she was neutered, what ever cost it was I took her quickly back home. For the very first time, as soon as she was out of the car and in the garden, she ran like a mad dog. Up and down none-stop. I smiled and laughed so much that I was covered in tears again. My mom was also happy and was glad we made the right choice.
The present:
Ever since she joined the family, she has been a different dog. Much more active, wagging her tail in circle haha! and she has a male compagnion =) In the morning I always make sure she eats and before I leave, I hug her tightly and telling her that I love her so much that everyday I will make sure you are as happy as you were before.

French law states that "Foie gras belongs to the protected cultural and gastronomical heritage of France."Another European cuisine employs fattened goose liver almost to the extent as in France; in Hungary, libamáj (lit. 'goose liver') is produced, as in France, both at the small farm and larger commercial levels, and is consumed both plain and in cooking by all levels of society. As with French foie gras, tinned libamáj is exported and can be purchased around Europe and North America.
Ancient times
The technique of gavage dates as far back as 2500 BC, when the ancient Egyptians began keeping birds for food and deliberately fattened the birds through force-feeding. Whether they particularly sought the fattened livers of migratory birds as a delicacy remains undetermined. In the necropolis of Saqqara, in the tomb of Mereruka, an important royal official, there is a bas relief scene wherein workers grasp geese around the necks in order to push food down their throats. At the side stand tables piled with more food pellets, and a flask for moistening the feed before giving it to the geese.
The practice of goose fattening spread from Egypt to the Mediterranean. The earliest reference to fattened geese is from the 5th century BC Greek poet Cratinus, who wrote of geese-fatteners, yet Egypt maintained its reputation as the source for fattened geese. When the Spartan king Agesilaus visited Egypt in 361 BC, he was greeted with fattened geese and calves, the riches of Egyptian farmers.
It was not until the Roman period, however, that foie gras is mentioned as a distinct food, which the Romans named iecur ficatum; iecur means and ficatum derives from ficus, meaning fig in Latin.
Today, France is by far the largest producer and consumer of foie gras, though it is produced and consumed worldwide, particularly in other European nations, the United States, and the People's Republic of China.
Gavage-based foie gras production is controversial due to the force feeding procedure used, which many view as cruel and inhumane treatment. A number of countries and other jurisdictions have laws against force feeding or the sale of foie gras.
(Foie gras is part of the cultural and gastronomic patrimony protected in France. The term foie gras, the liver of a duck or a goose specially fathened by gavage.)
What is the difference between American way and the French traditional way of producing Fois Gras?
North America:
Based on these and other symptoms, veterinarians and pathologists have deemed force-feeding inhumane. Even foie gras industry representatives concede that the process would be fatal if it continued beyond a few weeks. Not surprisingly, the mortality rate for ducks raised on foie gras farms is tremendously high — more than 20 times greater than that of conventional duck farming.
Foie gras producers portray force-feeding as a natural extension of the pre-migration gorging many waterfowl engage in to build up energy stores for long flights. However, no bird would ever voluntarily ingest so much food that he could not even walk or stand — much less fly. Further, the Moulard duck used in foie gras production is a cross between the Muscovy and Pekin breeds — neither of which even migrate. One former employee of a large North American foie gras facility explained, “The best way to maximize profits is to get the biggest — and hence, the most diseased — liver. As my supervisor stated, ‘the point of gavage is to make a duck as sick as possible, to bring them to the brink of death.’”
In addition to being cruelly force-fed, birds used for foie gras endure other abuses, including:• Cruel culling — Because their livers are thought to be too “veiny,” female hatchlings are disposed of by being ground up alive, gassed or suffocated inside plastic trash bags.• Mutilations — Because the intensive confinement of birds generates frustration and aggression, foie gras producers sever the ends of the ducks’ upper bills and the ends of their toes without analgesic to limit their injury to one another, a practice that results in chronic, lifelong pain.• Insufficient access to water — Although ducks and geese, as primarily aquatic birds, require water for preening, maintaining plumage condition and engaging in other instinctual behaviors, factory-farmed ducks and geese are barely given enough water in which to dip their beaks.
Europe/France:
Use of Toulouse Geese: Toulouse is a heavy breed of goose used for meat production and exhibition
History of Toulouse Geese: Toulouse is a very old French breed, developed as a farmyard bird in Southern France and selected for foie gras production in certain regions. They were admitted into the first American Standard of Perfection in 1874. Gray geese commonly sold by hatcheries are called Toulouse but often do not have the massive appearance or dewlap of Standard-bred Toulouse geese.
The practice of force-feeding geese has a long history - it is said to date back to Egyptian times. The purpose is to swell their liver so that it turns white, becomes more fatty and loses its bitter taste. A pipe inserted into their throats is used to administer the grain.
As with much of farming and food production, it is the large-scale industrial-commercial enterprises that draw more criticism than small family-run farms.
Spanish company Pateria de Sousa, in Badajoz province, is seen as more ethical because it makes its foie gras by slaughtering the birds at a time when they have naturally eaten more to create reserves for what would have been migration.
It means the harvest is seasonal, before Christmas or in February, depending on the weather. And it is limited to geese, not including the more reliable, breed-able ducks. But the proof of the pudding comes in the tasting - and the French have already given it a food award at the Paris International Food Salon.
"We don't force feed the animals, they feed and live freely on our land," says the farm's owner, Eduardo Sousa. "The animals eat and eat and eat, so that they'll be fat for winter."
They live in symbiotic harmony with the farm's pigs, bred for its Spanish "jamon". While the pigs feed on acorns, the geese pick up their leftovers, plus the figs and lupins dotted around.
"We know when the geese are ready because their bellies drag on the ground." So how would they take off to migrate? Well, these ones don't.

A tiny fact about Toulouse Geese =)
Geese belong to the duck family. The goose is known for its fierce hissing, biting and striking with their wings, to frighten off predators from its young. This, and their alarm 'honking', also makes them good guards.
Types of geese
There are several species of wild geese in Britain. The Canada Geese is the most common.
Most geese have been bred from the Greylag wild goose. The most important domestic geese in this country are the all-grey Toulouse, from France, and the all-white Embden, from Germany. Chinese Geese come from the Asian Swan-goose.
Geese will migrate for thousands of miles, flying in 'V' formation.
The eggs take about 30 days to hatch into goslings, which can swim within a day or two.
Banning foie gras in York! Once again 'they' insist they know better than us. 'They' insist that 'they' inhabit the moral high ground; implying that we are not so advanced or developed in our thinking as 'them'. This is another proxy battle by the militant veggies whose ultimate aim is to reduce our freedom and make us follow their fascist diktat of vacuous vegetarianism.
Peter, Oxford UK
I'm not sure it concerns 'vacuous vegetarianism' but rather why animals should be mistreated to provide a luxury food-stuff. Nothing against killing animals for food, however in Europe we don't have any excuses for not treating animals 'humanely' in rearing and killing them.

My Comment:
Ok after knowing all of this (which i knew for a long time), i'm not gonna quit eating Foie Gras. Soweeeee to disappoint you all. I mean c'mon, its been a traditional in my family and we only eat this during Christmas. As it said, its only SEASON time which is on Christmas (Since its extremely expensive and its limited to how many Toulouse Geese can be forced fed and killed for only doing Foie Gras). Its just like "the hunting season". There is a law as to how many animals can be killed. But now there are "poachers" killing unnecessary for selling skin for money.
So in conclusion I should say that the Americans has actually ruined the way of producing Foie gras by mistreating the animals condition when by right, they are supposed to roam freely (Like chickens) and feed them ACCORDING of grams that needs to be fed and how many times in a day to do so. All of this is processed up to 18-26weeks (According to the Health Minister of France) I found out that in America they managed to speed things up to 17weeks.
If the people do NOT know how to follow the exact rules of doing something that is extremely precious, delicate and expensive to do, then DON'T DO IT! don't think that just because European people have a better way of eating + managing their food well, DOES NOT MEAN you have to take over and think that you can do better! (obviously it isn't any better. Instead its WORSE.) It will still be a traditional and will always be. You cannot stop something that has been there since the ancient times. Instead, find a better way to do this humanly way like feeding them dried figs (takes up to 36weeks to fatten up the liver, if your not that much in a hurry)
It gets me angry to see other companies taking over something and ruining the actual traditional. Now its becoming horrandious and now it has become Animal Right of not having "fois gras". Not only just goose, but chicken and Cows and other livestock animals. What about not having any meat at all?! then the population would increase and then problem will come as 'Pest' like Kangaroos/Koalas in Australia. And then goes the killing again to reduce the population, and people would have lost taste in meat and the rest will be dumped in garbage areas, then will stink like rotten Earth and more problem will occur for Health Issue etc etc. It will never be a endless problem. Instead, let it be BUT just find "another" way to do things instead of just 'cutting" everything all of a sudden. I know for sure I won't be able to stay for a long time without actually eating meat. BUT i do eat my VEGGIES!
I'm still eating meat because its my choice to do so and I was raised to eat equally. I respect the vegetarians. I mean there is nothing wrong with them. I have absolutely no opinions about them except they will be growing bunny ears soon. LOL! xD *sounds cute* But what I don't like is a vegetarian forcing me to become one. Then maybe I should become a Muslim since they asked me to convert o.O; . FAT LUCK! i will never convert to anything but FREEDOM TO SPEAK/CHOOSE AND BEING ME.
Hate me if you want, but we are all carnivores, savages human being after all. *blink blink*

Ugh ok so this week has been either busy and extremely sad. It has been very stressful for me to keep up with two dogs (which i love them dearly!) my family, the house and the death of a friend. It still shocks me every time I arrive at the office and my mind of mine keeps reminding me that she isn't longer there. Since most of the time after work i just drop at the shelter and see her. *sigh* Guess now i don't have too...
Well her funeral was today(I took the day off to cherish her memory), but i didn't want to see her in there. I wanted to see her as I last saw her. In the past everyday after work I went to see her. Went toward the huge gate to open and there she was. I waved to her with a big smile of mine and she waves back with the most pleasant greeting "Hi Amelia! I'll be right with you!" along with a huge smile. I always enjoyed every single words we exchanged and talked. We laughed, we cried, we shouted and we had fun. But now all is left is a memory. Its hard for me to believe that she is actually gone like this and i'm sure she wasn't even expecting that at all. I did ask one of my friend of my moms friend to ask the Monk to guide her to the light and at the same time explain to her what really happened. The most i heard is that the Monk saw she had a very good karma and she won't be needing any help to get to the light. She will find her way. I smiled and i still think of her.
So now everyone will be going with their life... so i guess I will have to keep up too. Don't want to fall behind since i can't really afford that now.
Yesterday we where at an event "Sids pub" and did I had such a great time seeing all the animals (of course. The only time you see me 'Really happy' is if animals are included too. thehehehe.) It was a huge success for the New Eco Animal Shelter Fund raise. It was amazing how just one event we could raised so much money $.$ Well money isn't everything after all...
My birthday is soon... eeeek! what to do? everyone has to get old...right?.... ugh =.= not that it ever bothered me of being old xD actualy i'm looking forward to be a grump granny chasing kids with my cane saying "Get off my grass you bunch of pests!" and my daughter would be saying "Mom! They are just kids! Let them be." and i'm here grumbling thinking that my daughter really doesn't understand or that i might still have an 'ancient' mind. LOL. =)

It is sad to know that one of my closest friend; a dog whisperer that worked at the shelter where i am currently working, has been murdered. She was burned, charred beyond recognition. Only her car was parked there... here is the article;
~ Burnt woman’s body found in Ampang
July 02, 2010KUALA LUMPUR, July 2 — The body of a woman, which was 90 per cent burnt, was found outside a Suzuki jeep belonging to a Belgium woman in Taman Tun Abdul Razak, Ampang, here today. Ampang Jaya OCPD, ACP Abdul Jalil Hassan said the body, whose identity had yet to be ascertained, was still burning when found by a Syabas worker at about 3.30pm. Police also found a lighter and a mineral water bottle, believed to have been filled with gasoline, at the scene, he told reporters at the scene. He said the police also believed that the incident occurred between 9am and 3.30pm and were in the midst of investigating the case to ascertain whether the victim was murdered or had committed suicide. Despite her purse and identity cards being missing, Abdul Jalil dismissed robbery as the motive because the victim's jewellery was intact. He also called on members of the public with missing relatives or with information on the case to contact Ampang Jaya police headquarters at 03-42897222 or the nearest police station to facilitate in the investigation. — Bernama
~ *Sigh* another friend gone... another friend who had to die like this..murdered. Same country, same thing but different people.... .
It is time... for some serious action!
R.I.P Reve The only friend I could share my experience as a dog whisperer. Join the animals in heaven and guide those that needs help. I am sure in Heaven you will still be as helpful as you were with us.~
First off, I totally forgot to mentioned that I have actually adopted a dog from the SPCA. Yea yea you were right. I was going to adopt a dog even though i said I would not, since my previous one passed away. BUT does not mean i have forgotten my dog.
Anyways, his name is Hatari (Ataree) which means Danger in Swahili. Sorry for those which i said the name was some kind of a Greek god. It was another name (can't remember) and didn't use it in the end. Mother make up your mind with the names! He was 2months old when i fostered him first since he was terrified of everything. I studied him carefully when he arrived at home. Letting him run in the grass, sniff here and there. My sister was around at that time =D so she helped me prepare the food and all. So i kept studying Hatari for a while, and immediately understood he must have had bad experience with humans. He was found at the graveyard near to our office. Over there, there are workers that might have been abusing or frightened the little pup. I was told there was 3 others of him, but they didn't find. Hatari was hiding between the flower pots and managed to catch quite easily.
Hatari 2months old
When he was brought to the office, he has a terrible loss of hair on his face since he was under the sun too long. He was dirty, so Catarina and I gave him a bath. Poor fella, he was so scared he had his tail between his legs and his ears down and just stood there like a stone. You actually had to lift him up to get him into the right position and all of his four legs would be stiff. My mother always wanted a black dog, I introduced her to him along with my sister. At that time his name was Sunday, since it was on that day he was found. She seemed ok with it so we took him home for fostering to see if he can adapt with such a huge area and many things that was twice his size.
Since he was scared for a lot of things, I locked myself up with him in a room which echoed. And studied him further by just talking to him by exchanging our energy. I had couple of items with me which I, purposely didn't make him smell it or notice it.
Session1: Item: Ball
Action: I rolled it toward him
Reaction: He was a bit scared but sniffed at it.
Result: The sniffing part of something he is scared is a very good sign. It means he is curious of an object he is not familiar with but at the same time cautious not letting his guard down.
Time: 15mins
Test1: passed.
So that much he was ok with it. I put water in a bowl and patiently waited for him to come to drink. ~ Session2:
Item: Bowl filled with water
Action: Human Presence and test of trust.
Reaction: He sniff and drank but still scared
Result: Again the sniffing part is a good sign. A dog always have to sniff before knowing if its safe. Since my energy was very calm, I wanted him to trust me, he did so by drinking and accepting my friendship.
Time: 10mins
Test2: passed
All of this time I have not praised nor have I made any sound as I knew very well that he will be very frightened by just the sound and not understand that its coming from me.
Well so far so good. He seem to be ok when I was doing the test. The next session will be very difficult for him and might be frightening too. I filled up a jar full of white rocks in it and placed it on the floor.
Session3:
Item: Jar filled with of white big stones
Action: The limit of fear of a view of an object that can make noises.
Reaction: He just walked around and around not noticing the jar. The eye never made contact to the item.
Result: This reaction is pretty much new. Since he didn't ignore both previous sessions, I immediately understood that he actually knows what this item can do. He was getting stressed at a point, so I tried to calm him down with my energy before it gets too difficult for him to handle.
Time: 20mins
Test3: failed.
I took the jar away immediately since his energy was going too high and getting to a panic mode. Immediately he calmed down and as soon has he did so, i gave him a delicious treat without him seeing the jar fulled of rocks. He is pretty much an intelligent dog for a 2month old puppy. He is very observant which is excellent for a guard dog. Very cautious
So now he is 5 and a half months old. Recovered well. Is he less scared as he was but still cautious. I still keep making noises and make him smell it that its ok. For instance;
Hatari 5months old
Plastic bags: Yes its a very annoying noise and shocking. For Hatari, it was like a monster trying to chase after him to eat him! Then i try to call him back hiding the plastic bag behind me. As soon as he is near to my hand and licking, i crunch the plastic bag behind my back. He got scared but stayed. Then i showed him the plastic bag and he lowers himself immediately in submission with his ears down. But now he seems to have calmed down but still doesn't like plastic bags. Ah well, at least i know it won't be torned into pieces and will be finding them flying around in the air. It went to fear to scare. Good progress though =) I'm so proud of him!
Well that's enough for today =) More exciting journal is coming up! Stay tuned
